Plan ahead and do the background work. Plan out your project in detail, talk to the communities you serve, and seek out partnerships.
Be clear and concise. There's a reason funders use those pesky character counts. How can you say more with less?
Don't assume funders know who you are . You never know whose sitting at the reviewer table.
Collaborate. Collaborate. Collaborate.
Share your urgency. Why is your project needed now? In comparison to other applicants why is your project needed?
Present a viable project. This is demonstrated by your budget. Know where other funding is coming from.
Bonus points if your organization makes a financial contribution.
Submit a complete application. Simple yet effective ;)
